Discovering Bending Beam Load Cell Use Cases

Bending beam load cells are versatile and cost-effective solutions for many weighing and force measurement applications. These miniature load cells are compact, making them ideal for small testing environments and for embedding in machines or products for continuous performance measurement.

As a quick review, a bending beam load cell converts an applied force into a proportional electrical signal by measuring the beam’s flexure. This is achieved using strain gages arranged in a Wheatstone bridge circuit. The bending beam’s load is typically quantified by its rated output, the signal level at full load. The total physical bending at full load is known as deflection at rated output (RO).

When evaluating your bending beam load cell use case requirements, it is essential to consider that the load cell must operate safely within its safe overload limit to maintain accuracy.

 Automated Check-Weighing and Filling

A water bottle manufacturer needs to dispense the right amount of fluid and then verify the weight against the product label to minimize waste.
