Hysteresis 101
Interface defines hysteresis as the algebraic difference between the load cell's output at a specific load when approached from an increasing direction versus a decreasing direction. Hysteresis represents a physical limit of the sensor's design. Hysteresis is typically expressed as a percentage of Full Scale (%FS) on a sensor's data sheet or calibration certificate. Learn more about this vital characteristic in Interface's Hysteresis 101.

Beyond the Obvious Forces of Product Testing
True precision in testing requires developing a mindset that embraces failure, diagnoses invisible errors, and knows that the best results come from understanding that every component, connection, and procedure is part of a complex system that demands relentless attention. Interface provides high-accuracy test and measurement products, including load cells, for testing labs.

Calibration Certificates 101
A calibration certificate is documented proof that a load cell has undergone professional calibration and meets industry standards. Interface calibrates every load cell we manufacture. We calibrate over 100,000 load cells annually, and an Interface Calibration Certificate accompanies every new sensor we send to a customer. Interface provides calibration services on used sensors, with a yearly calibration recommendation.

Shunt Calibration Resistors 101
Interface shunt calibration resistors, known as RCAL Resistors, are an accessory product. A shunt calibration resistor is a resistor that is connected in parallel with a measurement instrument to provide a known resistance value. The purpose of the shunt cal resistor is to calibrate the instrument to accurately measure the current passing through it. Shunt calibration resistors are often used with load cells to improve the accuracy and reliability of their measurements.
