Interface sensor specifications state rated output, expressed in millivolts per volt (mV/V), as the electrical output of a load cell, multi-axis sensor, or reaction torque transducer in mV/V of excitation at the rated load. It essentially expresses a load cell's sensitivity. RO represents the change in output voltage in millivolts of the load cell relative to a change in the excitation voltage in volts applied to it.

An excitation voltage is needed to power the load cell and ensure the output signal is accurate. Load cell excitation is necessary to ensure the accuracy and reliability of load cell measurements. The data for excitation voltage is listed under the electrical section of a transducer model’s specification datasheet, along with other factors, including rated output, bridge resistance, and zero balance.
