Interface load cells and instrumentation are commonly utilized for proof testing based on our measurement tools’ capacity, accuracy, and quality.  The products used for proof testing ensure an object can handle its rated load and go above and beyond to understand maximum performance and failure.

Our measurement products are designed to withstand the rigor and cycling required in proof testing applications. Proof testing confirms how products, components, and parts perform under extremely intense conditions, often testing above the specified operational use.

VALIDATION USING PROOF TESTING

Proof testing determines that the failure of critical components and parts could result in costly damage to equipment and even injury in severe cases. The first step in any proof test is to select a suitable sensor.

TECHNICAL TIP: Due to the criticality of these tests, we strongly recommend consulting applications engineers to discuss the load cell capacities and specifications, mounting requirements, cycle counts, and data acquisition requirements.

Top Three Reasons Interface Products are Used for Proof Testing Applications

Safety: Proof testing qualifies and quantifies the safety of equipment and structures that sustain substantial loads. Identifying weaknesses or defects can prevent catastrophic results. Proof testing for safety is standard for lifting equipment, rigging gear, structural supports, and components in aerospace.
Quality: Proof testing provides quality control, verifying that equipment or materials meet specifications. Whether for manufacturing equipment or construction materials, proof testing ensures adherence to quality standards.
Reliability: Proof testing provides accurate data on performance and dependability. By understanding how a test object reacts under stress, these tests validate the lifespan of a specific component or product. It is also used to define preventative maintenance requirements. It impacts production lines, product versioning, inspections, and, ultimately, the customer’s user experience.

Proof testing determines the strength and integrity of a test subject by applying a controlled, measured load to it. It is commonly used to test stress, fatigue, and materials. It is frequently used by industries such as construction, natural resources, infrastructure, heavy machinery, and manufacturing to verify the strong point and durability of objects and structures.

MANUFACTURING SOLUTIONS TO PREDICT, PREVENT, AND OPTIMIZE

Manufacturers use Interface load cells, torque transducers, multi-axis sensors, and instrumentation to improve products and processes, meet production line performance requirements, design industrial machinery, protect workers, and test designs. Specifically, how are manufacturers using Interface solutions? The top use cases are R&D, testing, machine and tool
building, QA, automation, safety protocols, process controls, and maintenance monitoring.

Another top use case for Interface measurement solutions is modernizing tools and equipment. Interface products are used to retrofit machines and update instruments with sensor-based technologies, such as replacing machine pins with load pins that measure loading and lifting in real time. Read more details about manufacturing applications and use cases. Download the new Manufacturing Solutions Overview.

SUPPORTING STEM EDUCATION IN RACING TO THE FINISH LINE

Gopher Motorsports, a student automotive engineering group, builds an internal combustion engine (ICE) race car and an electric vehicle (EV) each year to compete in the global Formula SAE Series. The competition demands speed and performance on the track, meticulous engineering, efficient manufacturing, and sound business planning. Gopher Motorsports needed a reliable and accurate force measurement solution to meet these rigorous criteria.

Interface application experts recommended ten SSM Sealed S-Type Load Cells and two SM S-Type Load Cells with 1,000 lbf capacity for their project to optimize the car’s performance. The load cells were strategically mounted in line with the suspension on their Go4-23c vehicle. This setup allowed the team to collect crucial data during extensive track testing sessions, enabling them to fine-tune their suspension system for optimal performance.
