3AR Round 3-Axis Load Cells and BX3-HD44-CAN 3-Channel CANbus AND USB Strain Gage Amplifier

5-Axis Sensor and CANbus AND USB Strain Gage Amplifier Data Acquisition System

The 3AR Round 3-Axis Load Cell simultaneously measures tension and compression forces along the X, Y, and Z axes through three independent strain-gage bridges. The BX3-HD44-CAN supplies excitation, conditions and digitizes each channel, and transmits the data through CANbus or USB. Using BlueDAQ software, users can configure the amplifier and simultaneously view, graph, and record measurements from all three axes.

Interface’s 3AR 3-axis load cell measures forces simultaneously in 3 mutually perpendicular axes: X, Y, and Z – tension and compression. Each axis provides a unique mV/V output and requires no mathematical manipulation. The 3-axis load cell is built to minimize eccentric loading effects and crosstalk between axes. The 3AR Series 3-axis load cell is ideally suited to many industrial and scientific applications, such as aerospace, robotics, automotive and medical research (orthopedics and bio-mechanical). The load cell is provided in various capacity ranges and sizes with each of the three axes providing the same capacity. We are happy to work with your design needs – providing a custom design if warranted for varying capacities (between X, Y, and Z), higher temperature capability, or OEM/private labeling if needed.

BX3-HD44-CAN 3-Channel CANbus AND USB Strain Gage Amplifier

3-Channel Capability

The BX3-HD44-CAN strain gage amplifier is a 3-channel strain gauge amplifier with a CAN interface and USB port. Sensors with full-bridge strain gages, e.g., 3A and 3AR, are connected via the front-panel 44-pin SubD44HD connector. An M12 socket and an M12 plug are available on the rear panel for connecting the CAN bus cable. The BX3-HD44-CAN strain gage amplifier is powered via the CAN bus cable with 10 VDC to 28 VDC. As an alternative to the CAN bus, measurement data can be transmitted via the USB-C port. The 5 VDC power supply is then also provided via the USB interface. Measurement data can be recorded both via the integrated USB port via the CAN bus using the BlueDAQ software. The BlueDAQ software allows reading, recording, and visualizing measurement data. Multiple BX3’s can be connected together via CAN and then connected to PC using a PCAN-USB converter. The BX3-HD44-CAN strain gage amplifier is factory-configured for connection to quarter-bridge strain gages with 120 Ohms, 350 Ohms, or 1 kOhms in three-wire technology.

System Level Calibration

Interface strongly recommends requesting a system-level calibration when purchasing a force measurement sensor with instrumentation. This final step ensures the sensor and instrumentation are properly calibrated and functioning together before leaving Interface.
