NONLINEARITY 101

Nonlinearity refers to the deviation from a straight line during a single, continuous loading cycle, which is a percentage of full scale from zero to full load. Interface Nonlinearity 101 details this crucial specification because it directly impacts the accuracy of your measurements. The measurement of nonlinearity is part of a comprehensive characterization process. While the ideal definition considers all points, it’s common to measure this value at a few specific points, often at 40% to 60% of the full scale. This range is chosen because it usually indicates where the maximum deviation from linearity happens. The value is then reported as a percentage of full scale (%FS). A lower percentage
signifies a higher-quality, more linear load cell, which provides more accurate measurements throughout its entire operating range. Be sure to bookmark all of Interface 101 technical articles here.

Interface Complete Systems aims to simplify this process by offering expertly configured, ready-to-use measurement solutions that remove guesswork and ensure accuracy from the beginning. Creating a system that functions flawlessly when all components are connected is essential. With tens of thousands of products in our catalog, we understand the importance of making component selection easier. While every Interface product is a powerful standalone component, many of our transducers serve as integral parts of a complete system when paired with an instrumentation device. Here are some examples of the robust, pre-configured systems you can explore:

FIVE TRUTHS ABOUT A PRECISION MINDSET IN PRODUCT TESTING

The first truth is that a core principle in professional test design is planning for when the Device Under Test (DUT) fails. When testing something that could break, you must consider what happens when the device under test fails. The second truth is that momentary peak forces are often much higher and more dangerous to your equipment. It’s the amplitude. The third truth is planning for environmental factors such as temperature and humidity. The fourth truth is that understanding investments in tools and techniques is essential in testing and measurement. The fifth truth is treating data not just as a snapshot, but as part of a story that reveals the past and predicts the future of your equipment. Read more about technical engineering tips on these essential truths in preserving your precision mindset in product testing.

STRUCTURAL TESTING WITH INTERFACE MEASUREMENT SOLUTIONS

Structural testing is a vital practice in modern engineering, providing essential data for design improvement, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and proactively preventing failures. Structural testing guarantees the safety, reliability, and quality of everything from basic materials to the tallest structures that shape our skylines. At the core of this discipline are force measurement solutions, and Interface’s advanced sensor technologies are tools commonly used across many sectors. Interface’s product suite supports a wide array of structural test and measurement types, each providing a unique perspective on the performance of a material or structure. This includes structural tensile testing, compression testing, torque and load capacity tests, bending and fatigue testing, as well as impact tests. Read more about industry structural testing applications and use cases.

MANUFACTURING AND AUTOMATION PICKING AND SORTING SOLUTIONS

In logistics and manufacturing, pick and sort refer to the processes of selecting and gathering items to fulfill orders, then organizing them for subsequent steps such as packaging or shipping. Picking involves retrieving products from a warehouse or storage area based on a customer’s order. This can be done manually or with automated systems. Sorting entails arranging picked items according to specific criteria such as destination, carrier, or order. The goal is to streamline the final stages
of order fulfillment and minimize errors. These processes are vital in effective supply chain management and are essential to the efficiency of warehouses and inventory operations. When executed accurately, they increase throughput, lower labor costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. Read more.
