Static testing a rocket can accurately determine its thrust, burn time, chamber pressure, and other parameters, providing invaluable data to propellant chemists and engineers. A rocket is only as good as the thrust force it produces over the period the propellant is burning known as a “thrust curve”. Thousands of different formulations must be tested to “characterize” propellant performance. A test stand needs a high accuracy load cell with excellent repeatability to withstand thrust forces of up to 100kN in very harsh environments.
