Custom ProductsMany test, measurement, and process control applications require a custom load cell, force sensor or torque sensor. Others require a special load cell calibration. Examples of special or custom products include special shapes, capacities, threads, connectors, cables, sealing, output, accuracy, temperature, pressure, etc. Other examples include internal overload protection, internal amplifiers, miniature sizes, multi-axis, special cable exits, footprint to fit an existing customer fixture, and shunt calibration. Interface engineering is organized into three separate departments, special make-from products, new products, and instrumentation. When an order is received it is determined which department is best suited for the custom load cell or force sensor. Interface uses state of the art SolidWorks 3D CADsoftware and FEA (finite element analysis) to produce the best design in the shortest possible time. The finite element analysis software permits Interface engineers to determine the stress in a proposed load cell or torque cell. If the product can be produced from modifying an existing design Interface can produce a complete set of detail drawings in a very short time. Interface has a large machine shop with 10 CNC machines as well as manual lathes and mills. Special software permits the CNC machines to be directly programmed from the original design thus shortening cycle time and reducing the possibility of error. Both the machine shop and assembly have separate work cells for standard, special and new products, which minimizes costs and maximizes flexibility. Interface designs and manufactures its own strain gages. This shortens the time cycle for any product requiring a new strain gage. Interface is the world’s largest producer of load cells and force sensors for force measurement. We guarantee our load cells will outperform any comparable competitive product.
